Stay Home

Since the Mid-May, the covid-19 pandemic had broken out dramatically in Taiwan. Within less than one week, we had been informed that we were asked for working from home based on the rule the company formulated immediately. I always remembered the day that I had been informed to work from home is the day-off when I hang out in the northern coast line and that was the final time I travel outside my daily life zone. After several days, not only the work day, but also the weekend, we basically stay home apart from purchasing the life necessities. It is really the hard time for us especially for the summer time, which we had planned a vast amount of outdoor activities for the following weeks. For the week days, in the summer, we usually go to swimming, play basketball or play table tennis in the evening. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the above playgrounds had been asked for closed completely. The weekend is harder. We can’t go to anywhere but stay home to play something indoor.

Frankly speaking, since second quarter of last year, we have stayed home on the weekend as possible as we can for more two months. In the winter and spring time, I can stay my work studio for the musical instrument practice or creation, such as drum, guitar and piano. However, the summer time, it is really hot to make the overly practice, particular for the drum practice. Although, it is still the major hobbies for me, I would spend too much time unless there will be the clarified target.

The next indoor activity is watching movie and TV program. In fact, before entering the college, watching the movie hadn’t been the part of my life due to insufficient resource and time. We have only cable TV at home, it’s inconvenient to choose the specific movie unless go to rent the DVD. When I was the college student, I would borrow the DVD from the library where possess the abundant resource. I only watch them when the long-distance bicycle riding journey finished. I always thought that only when I was too tired to do anything else, watching movie is not wasting time. After graduated, I lived in the dormitory without the Internet. I usually study the profession field and practice computer graphic in the evening. Sometimes, I also go to rent the DVD which the subtitle can be removed to training the English listening skill.

However, when I had been married and left the dormitory. I had acquired the Internet again. During these days, I usually watch movie on the illegal platform on the Internet. In fact, I want to watch movie on the Internet instead of going to the renting store, but the legal movie platform in Taiwan won’t provide the subtitle removed function. Afterward, I had my own house and apply the FTTH with MOD for free in the first two years. I begin to contact the legal OTT platform. There were two surprising impression when the first time to utilize the MOD. The first one is that the sport channel had much better quality than the cable which possess wider competitive game and provide the replay the program after the live. And the second one is HD quality of movie which only exists on the Blue-ray disc.

With the better quality of the video resource, in the beginning, I still didn’t have the suitable equipments to play them well. When we were the child, we only had the RPTV which had the bigger size screen and better audio quality performance. During the college period, I had nothing but the notebook to play any kind of videos within the small screen and low level headphone. Several years later, I had known more knowledge related to the music and audio. I purchased the better headphone first, then I had my own the 2.1 channel speaker when I rent the suite with the independent space. Finally, I purchased the audio card when graduated from school which meant I couldn’t utilize the club’s resource anymore.  

After married and live in bigger apartment, I begin to connect the notebook to the monitor. From the 17-inch to the 27-inch, it improved the watching experience for the personal requirement, but I ultimately purchased the projector to solve the entire bigger screen problems. For speaker, I also have different idea all along. If I require the high quality, the passive speaker with amplifier or sound bar might be the greatest choice for me. But, I also want to connect with the music instruments which require the better portability and wider interface. Currently, there is no best idea for me to make the choice, although it can satisfy the demand so far. After the more requirement appeared, I believe I can know what I really want and make the final decision.
