Visited on The Other Sides

After one day stayed in the Hvar, we set off for another distinctive destination in this journey. Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina is located in the inland of Balkans which is relatively much more mysterious and attractive. The time required for the long distance between the Sarajevo and Hvar was fairly worth obviously. In 1999, after the dead of Tito and the Dissolution of the Soviet Union, each of the country in Yugoslavia strongly wished to be independent from the outdated Union. Slovenia had achieved the objective first smoothly without enormous opposition and war from the government. The Croatia was also indenpent several years later luckily. Unfortunately, however, the independence in Bosnia and Herzegovina had encountered dramatic obstacle within their own country during the period. The country consists of three major races, such as Bosnians, Croats and Serbians which belong to different religions. The intersection cross the different races was fairly inseparable and commonly. Nevertheless, the Serbians hadn’t been willing to be separated from the Serbia, so the civil war had launched since 1992. Go though over three years, the serious damage was in the Bosnia and Herzegovina, particular in the Sarajevo.

We had spent over four hours arrived the city exhausted without the freeway and it was near evening. We went to the hotel directly where located in the suburbs. There were few building and residents around the hotel which had been built completely less than one year. The sky was dark and the atmosphere was not in common with the other city in Europe we had visited previously. We won’t go anywhere outside the hotel at night since it was too far from the downtown.

 

The next morning, it was obviously a sunny day which had been completely far from the last day. We took the bus to the downtown soon. The route began from the attractive city hall where a river beside we were able to walk long easily. The Latin bridge is the much significant place midst river in the history where the renowned first world war had broken out here. The wall posted a series of description of the assassinate process. The buildings in the city were mixed with different style, old and new, Turkish or the Serbian style. The war had occurred numerous times and it had been governed by the multiple empires and countries as well. Fortunately, the majority cultural assets are still preserved well nowadays. It is clearly identified for diversity cultural styles on the road.

Due to the civil war over twenty years ago, the development of the city is still behind the other countries surrounded. The simpler infrastructures enabled us to sense the difference from the others. Following the historical developed sequence, the main three group joined the civil war ultimately had been reconciliation since the NATO intervene the war. Eventually, the federation consist two counties according to the racial identification. The government ensures civil rights regardless of the race and the countries people belong to. The status in society seemed acceptable and the tourists visited here from all over the world have increased. Although, we had merely stayed for one day, we still hope the city and the country will develop well in the future.
